Zambia, 2016, Part Two

May 27, 2016

We are up in the morning ready to go to work. We are working on the Africa South East Field Conference and Training Center near Lusaka Zambia. After a great meal put together by two of our team members we are off and working.

Some of the rooms do not have finished plumbing lines. All of the bathrooms in the first seven rooms have fixtures and drains installed but there is no water to the back four rooms. One of our team members teamed up with one of the local workers to complete the plumbing for the back of the rooms that we occupied.

The plumbing water lines are all run on the outside of the building. There is no worry about pipes bursting from freezing because this a tropical climate all year around.

Both drain lines and water lines connected.

Once the lines are connected, the water heaters can be installed. Because this all a gravity feed system the hot water heaters must be installed high up on the wall so hot water can be available in the showers as well as the sinks.

The water for the school is pumped from a well into a tank on the hill behind the building to allow water pressure to be provided by gravity.

By the end of the trip all eight rooms had hot and cold running water. That’s eight rooms done and only sixteen more to finish but it’s good to know that future teams and workers will have the facilities to continue the work while staying on site. We are reminded in 1 Peter 4:11  “……If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ……”
