Costa Rica, 2014, Day Four

July 17, 2014

It’s back to work today at the Poas Church of the Nazarene. This will be the last work day at this Church as we will move on to another location after the Sunday service tomorrow.
First job accomplished as we finished painting the beams for the church roof today.

We completed the installation of all of the electrical receptacles in the church office and moved the electrical entrance box to make room for a new entrance door into the office area.

The team digging the hole for the septic tank completed their task but were then asked to dig a ditch for the plumbing to attach to the tank.

We are told there is a large pile of gravel that needs to be moved because it is in the way of the future construction. It needs to be moved a short distance, the tools are shovels and wheelbarrows. Most of the men are busy on other tasks so the women took on the task and made short work of it.

At the end of the day we all cleaned up and attended a short church service with some great music and a short sermon from the local pastor. Unfortunately it was all in Spanish so most of us could only enjoy the music. The interesting part was to see the passion for the local people who were in the service, their dedication to the Lord was evident.

A great service to watch

After the service we were invited to a special meal prepared by the local people. This included hand-made tortilla’s cooked on a grill. We were able to watch and see how they were made.

A fitting end to a great day as tomorrow we are off after morning church services for a day of sight-seeing in the mountains.
