I will be heading for Zambia, Africa in January of 2012 to work on a project to help complete a training facility for the Church of the Nazarene. I will be joining my friends from the Chicago Heights Church of the Nazarene on this trip to Zambia to work on the Africa Central Field and Training Center. This project is building a building for training pastors in Africa. If you look to the right hand side of the blog you will see I have attached a link to a u-tube video that a group from OKC First and Connection Church from Oklahoma. They sent a team there earlier this year and this video shows progress on the building was at that time.

This project will serve on many levels for the Africa Central Field (ACF). It will be a multi-purpose facility for use for meeting the many training needs as the Church grows quickly on the ACF. It will provide needed facilities for leadership and discipleship development, district assembly, extension education, youth meetings, women’s meetings, men’s meetings, children’s development programs, and will provide an ideal training for Nazarene Compassionate Ministries training, especially agricultural training. It will be located ideally on the main commerce route and bus routes serving the entire field as well as being located almost geographically in the center of the field that includes Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe. This conference and training center will save the field in having to rent facilities for these meetings. The facility can also be rented out and it is projected to be a self-supporting center within the first year. The centre is projected to include dormitory style housing, kitchen/ cafeteria, classrooms, and conference hall seating up to 800-1,000. The property will also have agriculture projects and fruit-growing projects. The property of 20 acres is currently home to the Chipongwe Nazarene Church which is one of the first Nazarene Churches in Zambia. Initial project total cost is estimated to be around $500,000 based on 4. Teams are requested to bring $15,000 for the project but we also are willing to accept smaller project amounts to fit the team. Cost per person varies. Please contact site coordinator. Phase 1 is under way with the starting of the first dorm building. The second building is the cafeteria and should begin late 2011. Teams are still needed for 2012 and 2013 to complete Phase 1 and 2.
