Haiti 2010, Day 2

June 2, 2010

Well it’s Sunday so we are off to Church at a Church of the Nazarene in Port A Prince.

Then we are off to an art district where the craftsman make metal art out of old barrels. They cut them out and form them by hand with a hammer. Once they are done they varnish or paint them.

Then it’s back to the W&W headquarters where we help load the trucks for the trip to Baie d’Orange. This is a stake truck with benches in the back which we will ride in with most of our luggage and supplies as well as a kitchen stove.

In spite of all of the devastation and we are still able to see some of the beauty that must have been here when this was a paradise island in the past.

A little beauty in the center of a disaster

It’s off to bed in anticipation of the trip to Baie d’Orange tomorrow.
